"Wallflower"

So, a very talented young author named Taylor, writing over at Gallery No. 3, did something that took my breath away this evening. She wrote a captivating story that was inspired by and titled after this song, by Agnes Obel. Taylor wrote what this song evoked, mentally and emotionally. I have to say that the idea of utilizing other art forms to create your own is fascinating to me. I'm really, really impressed.

Run over to Gallery No. 3 and read "Wallflower." Listen to the musical track while you do. Believe me, it's worth it!

And then try this yourself! Find a song that gets under your skin, gives you goosebumps, evokes a strong emotional response in you. Then write--free association style. You might be surprised by the results!

  1. Glad you enjoyed that piece, I really did as well...quick correction though, the author is actually female. Easy mistake to make what with those damn gender-neutral names.

  5. I create things from others creations no and then. I've written poems about great books or songs and short stories about the classics - most recently the Raven by Poe. Its on my blog in two parts. Pop by and take a look. Oh and HUGE LUCK and FINGERSCROSSED for the publisher to want your poems. Exciting stuff! Shah .X
