Three Virgin Summer Beverages

I have a couple friends who have lil buns in their ovens, and if you've ever been prego during the hot summer months, you know it can be a little miserable. More than that, it's disappointing when the others at your gathering are pouring lemon drops and other crisp summer cocktails and you're drinking iced tea (as yummy as iced tea is, sometimes it just can't cut).

Well, I've done a little searching and have found some great ideas for virgin summertime beverages. They're simple, refreshing, and won't get you tipsy! Here they are:

  • Almond Cafe: Simple--almond milk and coffee cubes. You can buy a carton of almond milk at the store, but if you want something really special? Take a jaunt over to this gal's blog and follow her recipe to make your own almond milk, with almonds (duh), vanilla bean, and medjool dates! Amazing!
  • Raspberry Grapefruit Splash: Throw several ice cubes and a handful of frozen raspberries into your glass, then mix together equal parts 100% grapefruit juice and Sierra Mist. Voila! If you want to get fancy with it, sugar coat the rim of the glass with some colored (or not) granulated sugar!
  • Beach Bumesque: This one I discovered in Seattle Magazine and it sounds delish!! Add 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice, and three ounces fresh orange juice. Stir. Fill almost to the top with Sprite or 7-Up. Stir a few more times. Add 1/2 ounce cream, drizzling it on top. Garnish with an orange slice.

What are your favorite non-alcoholic drinks for a hot, summer day? Please share in the comments below!

  1. That last one sounds really good! An easy virgin cocktail I do is just orange juice and half and half (or cream) poured over ice cubes.
